Giarola L'Umbe Bianco

Giarola · Vino Bianco · Veneto

In the glass

Straw-yellow, with white blossom, citrus and a hint of caramelised almond on the nose. Soft, fresh and light on the palate, with a gentle fruit sweetness. The L'Umbe line is dedicated to the senior winemaker, Umberto Giarola.

Why it suits our kitchen

At just 11 % vol it is the most easy-going companion on our list. It refreshes without dominating and lets herbs, vegetables and delicate fish take the lead — even if you rarely drink white wine.

Pairs with

  • Aperitif
  • salads
  • vegetable soup
  • lighter flammkuchen
Our recommendation

A light, floral white from Lake Garda, fresh and fruity — perfect to start with and with our salads.

Chiaretto Bardolino DOC

Corte Sant'Egidio · a Giarola family line · rosé · Lake Garda

In the glass

A delicate salmon-pink, fresh and lively, with fine red-fruit aromas. Dry and pleasantly easy-drinking. The Chiaretto is the traditional rosé of Lake Garda's eastern shore, made from the same native grapes as the red Bardolino.

Why it suits our kitchen

It combines the freshness of a white with the fruit of a red and so bridges almost every dish. When a table orders a mix, the Chiaretto is the bottle that pleases everyone.

Pairs with

  • Aperitif
  • with almost anything
  • flammkuchen
  • salads
  • hearty favourites
Our recommendation

Our rosé from Lake Garda: dry, fresh, with red berries. It goes with almost everything on the menu — when you would rather not decide.

Giarola L'Umbe Rosso

Giarola · Vino Rosso · Veneto

In the glass

Bright purple-red, scented with red forest berries and cherry. Balanced and soft on the palate, with a gentle finish. Corvina and Rondinella are the classic Verona grapes, known from Valpolicella and Bardolino.

Why it suits our kitchen

A red without heaviness: low in tannin, full of fruit and just 11 % vol. It accompanies cheese, hearty dishes and white meat without overpowering them, and stays pleasant into the second glass.

Pairs with

  • flammkuchen with bacon
  • hearty dishes
  • cheese
  • white meat & poultry
Our recommendation

A fruity, soft red from Verona, with cherry and forest berries. Light enough for flammkuchen, round enough for our hearty plates.

Andrero “Mongreno” Grillo

Andrero · Sicilia DOC · Sicily

In the glass

Pale straw-yellow with greenish tints. Pleasant exotic-fruit aromas on the nose. Smooth on the palate, with structure and a fresh tension — a white with a little more body (13 % vol) that still stays fresh. Grillo is the classic Sicilian white grape, here made dry and fruit-forward.

Why it suits our kitchen

The producer expressly recommends it with fish, soups and white meat. On our menu that makes it the wine for the heartier, more savoury plates: with 13 % vol and some structure it carries more than a very light white.

Pairs with

  • Aperitivo
  • flammkuchen with chicken
  • chicken salads
  • soup of the day
  • white meat
Our recommendation

Our fuller white from Sicily — dry, with exotic fruit and a fresh tension. A particularly good match for our chicken flammkuchen, the chicken salads and the soup.

Torrevento “Infinitum” Verdeca

Torrevento · Puglia IGT · Apulia

In the glass

Pale straw-yellow with greenish tints. A fine, delicate bouquet of blossom and fresh fruit, with a note of candied citrus and jasmine. Fresh and lively on the palate, with a fine, slightly tangy tension and a fruity, lingering finish — a dry, clear white of 12 % vol. Verdeca is a typical Apulian white grape.

Why it suits our kitchen

Fresh, light, floral and only 12 % vol — the easy companion that refreshes without covering the food. Made for the apéritif and for the lighter, vegetable- and salad-led plates.

Pairs with

  • Aperitivo
  • salads
  • vegetarian flammkuchen
  • vegetable / pumpkin soup
  • light starters
Our recommendation

Our light, floral-fresh white from Apulia — dry, citrusy, with a lively acidity. Ideal as an apéritif and with our salads and lighter dishes.

And by the glass: Sant Orsola Spumante Brut — our dry sparkling wine for a toast (glass 0.1 l 3.90 € · bottle 0.75 l 19.90 €). All prices and the full selection are in the drinks menu.

Our brewery

The Altenau brewery.

Our beer comes from next door. The Altenauer Brauerei sits in the neighbouring district of Altenau — like Schulenberg, part of Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Here we introduce the brewery and the beers and lemonades we pour from Altenau.

Neighbours in the Upper Harz

Altenauer Brauerei

Private brewery · Altenau · Clausthal-Zellerfeld

Just next door, in the Altenau district of the same town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld, stands northern Germany's highest private brewery. Beer has been brewed in Altenau since 1617; when the brewery faced closure in 2021, the townspeople brought it back. Today it brews by hand again — with Harz brewing water and barley from the Oker valley. Beer rarely comes more local in the Harz, which is why we pour the whole Altenauer range.
